vivaldi’s concerto December 31, 2007

after reading elaine’s latest blog entry about seasons in life, i mulled over her question for a while during shower… what season(s) in life have i gone through in year 2007? since i slept for four (4) hours on sunday afternoon, and drank two (2) glasses of teh tarik for supper, it’s going to be a long while before i fall asleep. so, i shall layan her question.
year 2007 has been a season of cold, bleak winter. many a times, i wonder if i could ever persevere through the cold. i find myself wanting to give up hope all too frequently in the face of bleakness. yet, i need to understand that winter is a necessary season in life. during this period of time, i am sustained only by what i stored up during times of spring and summer. though winter seems unending and the night appears to be longer, surely, spring will come if i choose to be faithful.

Heb 12:5-15 says, “and you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons, “My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked by Him; for whom the Lord loves He chastens, and He scourges every son whom He receives.” if you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons, for what son is he whom the father does not chasten? but if you are without chastisement, of which all are partakers, then you are bastards and not sons. furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we gave them reverence. shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? for truly they chastened us for a few days according to their own pleasure, but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness. now chastening for the present does not seem to be joyous, but grievous. nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who are exercised by it. because of this, straighten up the hands which hang down and the enfeebled knees. and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way, but let it rather be healed. follow peace with all, and holiness, without which no one shall see the Lord; looking diligently lest any fail of the grace of God, or lest any root of bitterness springing up disturb you, and by it many are defiled.”

happy new year 2008
spring is coming

christmas 2007 December 29, 2007

christmas this year kicked off with a week-long pre-christmas leave from work for me. my friend & i drove up to kundasang on the 19th december 2007 for a 3day/2night trip, mainly to get our grooves back (hehehehehehehe… more pictures to come). upon our return from the trip, i dropped by gaya christmas celebration @gaya street (more pictures too, later).

21st december 2007 – after setting up d’stream’s booth at the gaya christmas celebration, cynthia chia, yeong ying & i went for dinner at a nearby coffee shop. cynthia chia’s seal of approval – two thumbs up for her wat tan hor.

24th december 2007 – christmas eve was spent working in the morning. at night, d’stream had our very own christmas eve celebration – complete with a sedap punya buffet dinner, energetic dance by the youths (no, my bones would creak), a funny but meaningful drama entitled-ah beng comes home, and a balik kampung message by rev. kenneth thien. “why no pictures?”, you asked. and i’d shyly answer, “i brought my slr camera complete with zoom lens, but i neglect the battery.” power or not? *shy* >.<

25th december 2007 – christmas morning started off with a debate in my mind, whether i should go to d’stream again after last night’s celebration. but i figured, christmas would not be truly christmas if i do not include Christ. after service, i took my parents to four seas @asia city for dimsum.

and dimsum we had (nah, shing, another place for dimsum the next time that you are back)

after dimsum, we did a whole lot of walking… from asia city to centre point sabah, to warisan square, and then back to asia city again. as if not enough, we drove to city mall, where we bought 2 dozens of big apple doughnuts. to think that not too long ago, i hand-carried a dozen of these all the way back from kuala lumpur -_-

later, grocery shopped with parents… and they really took their time in selecting their veggies.

christmas dinner = the kong family’s traditional leg of lamb, with carefully selected vegies, and pumpkin soup.

t’was a meaningful christmas, albeit quiet…

my little cousin – shing, came back to kk end of last week. ngam-ngam i was on annual leave, so went around town a little with her.

she was craving for dimsum. so, on monday, we went around kk looking for it. found out foo phing @lintas does NOT open on monday. shangri-la’s (opposite old cinema) dimsum place has closed down ages ago. finally, we decided to go to hyatt’s chinese restaurant.
ok, so my little cousin is not so little… the dimsum at hyatt is nothing to shout about. without pork, dimsum will never taste the same.

hehehehehe… manicure & pedicure at a friend’s friend’s nail salon @lintas on tuesday. pergi sokong-sokong only.

later, rushed to patrick’s salon @centre point sabah to meet up with my little cousin. this picture looks like something out of a horror movie… a hairbrush sticking out from the brain.

i had my hair dyed… and treated… but no one noticed! maybe because i dyed it a few shades darker. next time i shall have it bleached/rainbow-coloured/shaved bald/spiked/mohican-styled/afro-permed… to make a bolder statement.

my little cousin’s new haircut & highlight. can’t really see the highlight from the picture though.
look at the wording… found anything amiss? scared yet?
after our hair therapy, we drove to salut seafood restaurant for a feast. as usual, too hungry to take picture of the food… here’s the “after” picture with all the sisa-sisa makanan.
 the after effect… -_-
