30 july 2008 – jasper liew jian yi, son of vivien lim & tito liew, was born on the 26th july 2008. got to meet him too before i leave town. in actual fact, i was down with runny nose during that week, but the mother was brave enough to let me visit baby jasper. it was only lately i read that newborn babies get their mother’s immunity upon birth, and the defense mechanism is in place for approximately 6 months. how wonderful is that?

amazing, how this complex organism was formed from the “meeting” of two cells.

jasper: “go away, aunty cathrine… you are disturbing my sleep.”

jasper taking a peep at mummy… still a hot mama.

end of july 2008 – met up with julia & mei hsia before leaving kota kinabalu for a good two (2) months…
the wind was pretty strong that day. i bought an ice-cream and i could see it melting before my eyes, literally, as the wind was blowing warm air towards it! by the way, julia, apologies for the pole that is sticking out of your head… reminder to self: need to check the background before snapping away the next time.

before i manage to take a picture of mei hsia, she laid down this heart-shaped handicraft on the table and scooted off to buy a pack of fries from a nearby fast food restaurant. oh well, life’s priorities… got to sort them out.

22nd july 2008 – a visit to des veoux road… known for its dried seafood products e.g. salted fish, dried shrimp, scallop, and some unidentified objects.
as i strolled through the walkway, the aromas and fragrances were unmistakably those of seafood products.

i strongly discourage the buying & selling of shark fin!

salted fish, anyone?

i will NEVER eat one of these… whatever they are! yikes!!

my parents & i had our lunch nearby after being totally exhausted from all the walking.

i love this – fried pancake with red bean stuffing.

on our final night in hong kong, we just had to have another bowl of the steamed milk. delicious!

we also tried the dessert at a popular shop (can’t remember its name though). this dessert consists of mango cubes in mango puree with mango ice-cream. totally mango-licious!

my parents had this – mango cubes with coconut milk.

oh well, here ends my 3-week holidays in beijing-hong kong. i must say it was a refreshing way to spend time with my family as well as to experience different things before i start a new job.
