q: what is something you did as a child that your parents still do not know about?
a: my father used to be a smoker. although i absolutely hate the cigarette smoke, i was fascinated by the way he puffed out the smoke. being curious, and not wanting to be found out, i secretly went out to the garden and rolled a piece of newspaper. yes, the full length of a sheet of newspaper! then i lit one end of the rolled newspaper and inhaled the smoke from the other end. no one told me i was supposed to keep the smoke in my mouth? the smoke went right into my lungs! i had a coughing fit, right in the garden, with a burning rolled newspaper in hand, and tears in my eyes. i believe that was my first and last “cigarette”.
