Welcome Seafood Restaurant April 18, 2012

Last month, I was back in Kota Kinabalu again, in order to clear my annual leave for the previous year. Without fail, whenever I return to my hometown, I will have to have my share of seafood!

Three of my favourite seafood restaurants are Ocean Seafood Restaurant (good food, efficient service but price is slightly higher), Salut Seafood Restaurant (need to travel by car >45mins, average food, but cheap!) and Welcome Seafood restaurant. Portview Seafood Restaurant is good too, but slightly more expensive.

As far as I know, there are two (2) branches of Welcome Seafood Restaurant. One in Penampang, and another more centrally-located one in Asia City.

There are a variety of seafood to choose from, though I must say I am against serving of certain species of fishes. Consolation is, they do not serve shark’s fins.

Scallop is a fast-moving item. Come later than 7pm and you may be disappointed.

Best thing is, all for only RM57!!!

Before the end of my week-long holidays, I went to Welcome Seafood Restaurant once more. This time round, I had scallops with chilli…

20120418-112733.jpg
Kam heong crabs…

and similar dishes such as the shells, vegetable and their in-house special tofu.

As I’m writing up this post, I can still remember the heavenly taste of the scallops and the scrumptious crabs.

Now, when is my next trip back home?

Dec 2011 – These pictures were taken during my trip back to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia for my 2-week holiday. Expect total randomness.

My ex-schoolmate – Soo San, who just got back to Singapore, went to Changi International Airport to send me off. Such a sweet gesture!

I had dim sum for brunch at Wong Kwok Restaurant, Damai. Highly recommended. If you do not wish to wait for an available table at the ground level of the restaurant, do proceed to the 1st floor. It is much quieter.

Initially, we planned for a 3 day-2 night stayover. However, due to constant drizzling, we could not do much except to stay indoor. Now, that would not usually be a problem, except that my 5 year old restless nephew was with us. So, we checked out and drove home.

Along the way, we stopped at this pottery in Tuaran.

I’ll be back… soon.

4th january 2011 – i heard so much about party play at lintas but only managed to try it once with julia c. she had lambshank while i had these…

nachos with heavenly dips!

i can’t even remember the name of this dessert… but it was yummy! warm melted chocolate buried in the chocolate cake (or it seems like cake to me), which goes oh-so-well with the milky ice-cream.

highly recommended. the food, not the skinny chef.

20th february 2010 – sunset bar @shangrila’s tanjung aru resort with mel c.

a relaxing place to hang out during the evening – sunset, gentle breeze, comfy seats.

i had mojitos while mel c had cocktail of the day –> screwdriver. since we ordered the screwdriver during happy hour, it came with another one, on the house. *hiccups*

lovely way to catch up.

8th february 2010 – after sharon & paul’s wedding & dinner reception @sarawak club, kuching on saturday; the very next day, they flew over to kota kinabalu to prepare for another dinner reception at supertanker chinese restaurant on monday.

although the wedding reception was held on a weekday, the guests were pretty punctual. initially, i had my reservation about holding a wedding reception at a restaurant. but trust me, the food at the restaurant was well worth it!

both of them were visibly relaxed. after months of preparation for the wedding, they reaped the fruit of a beautiful wedding. sharon was wearing a gown made by her mother-in-law.

welcoming the newly wedded couple.

slideshow of the couple, prepared by sharon’s cell member, fred yap.

the toast

sharon gave the speech, since the reception was on her “turf”.

here’s wishing the couple a blessed life together!
